Harbor View on Mattox Creek started as Stepp’s Harbor View Marina in 1990, a family business dreamed of by Gary Stepp, a native of Pittsburgh, PA, who loved boating on Lake Erie with his family. After a career at Westinghouse, Gary and Helen, his wife, decided he was going to tackle his lifelong dream of owning a family marina. Along with Helen, Bryan, Paula, Andrew, Laura, Megan, and Valerie, who joined in the dream, moved to Virginia to help start the business. 

 

Gary, Helen and Bryan ran the marina for many years, hosting summer holiday potluck picnics and selling snacks and sodas in the marina store. The family ventured into boat sales in the mid-1990s by selling Silverton Yachts and Rinker Boats. Gary and Helen retired passing the management on to their children Bryan and Valerie Stepp. Bryan and his son Andrew now run the business venture that consists of slip rent, boat sales, and service.
